This Lion Dance by Eng Bee Tin's performers in Binondo is mainly performed as entertainment during the festive of Chinese New Year. They mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume. Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is one of the most important traditional Chinese holidays. Celebrated in areas with large populations of ethnic Chinese, Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbors, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction.
Chinese New Year is on January 26, 2008.
